1 + .8 = Bah

I have to admit, I’ve gotten a little off track. No, I haven’t gained weight—well, not really, but I have gotten a little complacent.

Here’s how I know. This week, I lost 1.8 pounds. Last week, I gained 1.8 pounds. The week before? I lost, yep, 1.8 pounds. That 1.8 and I are not BFFs. I’m tired of it going away and coming back.

So what is it that’s gotten me in this cycle? I can blame it on my extreme busy-ness. I can blame it on traveling. I can blame it on the heat. I can blame it on the rain (sorry). But really, the blame should be with me, and me only.

In July, I was busy. I was traveling. I was hot. But that shouldn’t excuse me from making better choices. I’m taking this opportunity for a new month to start a renewed vigor with my plan. I will track my food. I will get in my workouts. And I will make my next goal.

I could use some inspiration, though. Does anyone have anything for me? New snacks? Quick recipes? I’ve been especially craving seafood, so I could use some new ways to make it.

Go ahead, blow my mind with your ideas. I’m waiting.

Grilled shrimp on a kabob. Marinate in your favorite and it cooks in under 10 minutes. Yum!

Salmon grilled on a cedar plank! Tons of smokey flavor, and it'll make you feel like some kind of Alton Brown-y badass on the grill. I literally learned how to do this by looking it up on YouTube, btw.

I tried a new fish recipe last night, and it was wonderful! Saute 1 T minced garlic and 1/4 cup chopped onion in 1 T olive oil. Put fish filets on top of onions. Pour 1 can quartered artichoke hearts (drained) and 1 can chopped tomatoes (drained) and 1/4 cup white wine on top. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning. Cover and cook about 10 minutes or until fish flakes easily. Low fat and yum!

A non-recipe suggestion. Look through your trackers for your best week and try to recreate it. My leader suggested that at my first meeting.

Hi Erika,

It's Meghan your penpal from CHOA :).

I make a delicious mango, shrimp, and avocado salad that you might enjoy. Here is the link to the recipe (nutritional info at the bottom).

2 fish filet's = 7pts

one small tortilla= 2pts
2T RF sour cream with chopped up pickled jalapenos and some of the juice from the jar to thin it out and make more of a sauce..yum! only 1pt

top with lettuce and tomato

super filling 9pt meal...i always have guac and chips with it for a big delux meal :)

I make lean turkey burgers stuffed with reduced fat feta cheese and shredded zucchini. I shred the zucchini with a cheese grater and mix all the ingredients together before making patties. You can add a little hamburger seasoning to your liking. I cook them on the Foreman grill and have a fast meal in 15 minutes. The shredded zucchini makes the burgers very moist.

You've gotten to the hard part of the weight loss now. In all reality you will probably need to start working out with weights more if you want to keep the weight loss continuing. Good luck!

Hi Erika!
I am in a very similar situation: I am halfway to my goal and have been stuck at the same weight for almost three months now. Every time I have a loss, I seem to end up gaining it back for a net loss/gain of nothing! However, I did join a gym recently and have really amped up my workouts including weight training and have noticed a significant difference in my muscle tone (yay!). So I try to get my motivation from that good feeling, I have to really get back to tracking my food as well. I'm sorry I don't have any recipes or anything for you but I just wanted you to know that you're not alone! And it's good to know that I'm not either ;)
